Al Houghtaling

Title

Al Houghtaling

Subject

Al came to start and get the car and bring it back to the shop.

Description

This story begins yesterday morning. The plan was to drop off a new drawing of Catherine's at the Peter Feeman Gallery in Manhattan, the head to a doctor's appointment.  We were going to stay overnight and the next morning get to the galler so Catherine could be interviewed by Vogue Magazine (in connection with her show coming up in March of 2025.  On the way down the Taconic Catherine noticed the defroster was acting off.  When we got to the gallery and shut off the car, the bower kept blowing. We were afraid if we shut the car of the blower would make the battery go dead.  We dropped the drawing off and called Elena Sisto to see if she knew of a mechanic.  She did, but when we got there they told us they were no ,longer in operation.  In the interim I had call Al's garage tyo see if he had any ideas, but he didn't.  We decided to head home and try and rent a car for the next morning and head back to the city then. On the way home we called Al again to see if he could wit for us.  He later called back (there was a ton of traffic and he let us know he couldn't wait and would pick up the car at our house in the morning (photograph here).  We did get home in time for me to rent a car.
On the way home when I stoppoed to pick up dinner I noticed one of the tires was practically flat.  Early in the morning Andrew (see next entry)  from Enterprse came to pick me up and bring meback to their office to give me a different car.  This all was done fast enough for us to get going back to the city by 8:20 AM.

We arrived at the Peter Freeman gallery only about 15 minutes late for Catherine'd appointment (see next entry).  When dropping Catherine off, I got a ticked, which was part of two days of money going out and coming in.  The Meter Person was very sorry when I told her that I was dropping off someone with a cane but had started to write the ticket so nothing could be done.
The money coming in and out was a bit of a Saga.  When we decided we had to leave I called the Hilton Double Tree Hotel and explained the dilema.  Even though we were past the date for a refund they did refund ther room fee, which was soo nice of them and also it ws vey expensive.  Money in.  The ticket. money out.  I got a parking space near the gallery, money in.  After Catherin'e interview we went to the doctors, eating lunch (from Soho Thai) in the car on the way.  We are still in the doctors office and probably won't get out before 5:00 PM and plan to get dinner from Excellent Dumpling on 23rd Street and eat in the car on the way home.  We had never had food from there before.

I have tried to add pages/items chronologically, and have done so when the platforms for the site made this possible. When I have missed a number of entries I skip those and move ahead to the current ones. That is because I always want the site to be current. Periodically I have filled in some of the missing pages. I am always quite a bit behind on filling in. The new platform that is being used does not allow me, when I fill in, to insert pages in the chronological space they belong in. It always adds the pages using the dates they are added. This means that the entries are getting somewhat scrambled and not placed where they belong. I am not happy about this and apologize for any confusion this may engender. Each entry though will always have the date that the event occurred on the entry itself. ~ Harry Roseman
